The head contains the tippets and the crest feathers. These feathers are the perfect choice for fly tying Salmon flies, Steelhead flies and some Spider flies. These tippet feathers work well as tail material on your fly or equally well as a pair of matched wings on a fully dressed Salmon fly. They can be used for creating wings and tails as well as cheeks on Pike flies due to their size and are also commonly used by being wound as hackle on Spider flies. The crest feathers are most commonly used as topping or tail material for Salmon flies.
